Tom M. Were, BCom, MBA Strategic Management, International Certified Executive Leadership Coach. Tom is a holder of a Master of Business Administration, in Strategic Management, Kenyan Citizen, a talented and adept leader with 19+ years’ experience in the public, private and development sectors, exceptional skills and experience in key sectors of social and economic development, profiling and offering advisory support to strategic public-private partnerships. His industry exposure, expertise and knowledge is grounded in community-driven development and sustainable development approaches covering the thematic areas of agriculture, agribusiness, education, assets development, health, strategic economic investments, business advisory, urban and rural development, and policy formulation & Influencing at local, regional and international settings working in and across countries.
He has served in the public, private and development sectors with national, regional and global organizations in various capacities, mainly in senior management and top leadership roles. Mr. Were joined Act Change Transform (Act!) in August 2018 as the Chief Executive Officer. Previously he served as Senior Advisor with Strategic Connections Limited (January 2017 – July 2018); Country (National) Director of SOS Children’s Villages (2014-2016); Director of Programs and Deputy Chief Executive Officer at KCDF (2008-2013); Head of Programs and Deputy CEO at Kenya Gatsby Trust (2004-2007); Senior Program Manager with Forest Action Network (2000-2004); and as International Leadership Coach since 2019.
