Vincent Ocen

Vincent Ocen was born on 25th Day of January, 1988 in Amuria District, Uganda. He is a self driven, result oriented legal and Information Technology Sustainable Development actor with proven ability to work under multidisciplinary settings. He is the current Global Youth Representative for Action for Sustainable Development (A4SD) and Executive Director for Sugur Development Agency (SDA). His work mainly entails research, legal advocacy, facilitation, coordination and project management focused on development, climate change adaptation, Governance and human rights policies. He is engaged in networking and cooperation with national and global civil society organizations and other development actors. Furthermore, Vincent is a certified civic leader under Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) with 11 years of work experience in the community development sector, specifically focusing on Civic rights, peace-building and Democratic governance. He holds a Bachelors Degree of Science in Information Technology at Uganda Christian University, Diploma in Entrepreneurship and Information Technology at Uganda Christian University, Diploma in Laws at Law Development Center-Kampala, Bachelor of Laws at Islamic University in Uganda, Master of Arts in Human Rights, Globalization and Justice at Keele University -UK. He has participated and recognized in various regional and international events. For instance; The 2018 UN Global Festival of Action for Sustainable Development in Bonn Germany, The 2019 United Nations High Level Political Forum and UN General Assembly in New York , USA, The 2020 Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) fellowship for African young leaders (18-35 years) in Nairobi, Kenya, Pan-African Debate Championship in Cape Town, South Africa, SDGs conference in Yaoundé, Cameroon, Youth Citizen Entrepreneurship Competition in Berlin Germany, Common Wealth Youth Mock Debate in Kampala, Uganda, Advocates for International Development Probono project among others. In conclusion, Vincent is driven by his commitment to Social justice and sustainable development and one day he hopes to witness a Just, Peaceful and Democratic society in Uganda in particular and Africa in general.
