Mr. Wamala is a Senior Green Finance Officer at the Uganda Development Bank Ltd. He’s accountable for providing technical support on green financing options and activities, ranging from resource mobilization to identification and analysis of low carbon, and climate resilient investments. He is also responsible for building strategic knowledge and partnerships. Prior to joining the Bank, Pius worked with Environmental Incentives as a Partner States Coordinator for Uganda under a USAID Program that valued natural capital in different protected areas – coordinating program activities and drafting technical country reports. He also worked with Tree Talk Plus, a national based NGO as a Program Officer in charge of environment and natural resources.
Pius’ climate change experience revolves around his role on the CSO advisory committee that prepared a Position Paper to inform preparation of the National Climate Change Act (2021); part of stakeholder consultations to update the Nationally Determined Contributions; a contributing author to studies on assessment of climate financial flows in Uganda and many other climate policy processes. Pius is also a member of different climate learning and knowledge platforms, a member of the Environment and Natural Resources Civil Society Organizations Network and the Uganda Forestry Working Group. Mr. Wamala holds a MSc. in Integrated Watershed Management and a BSc. Environmental Science, both from Makerere University Kampala.
