Omali Phiri is a seasoned Environmentalist, Agroecologist, Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist with hands on experience in project management, community development and advocacy. I have a Degree in Environmental Education obtained from the University of Zambia and a Post Graduate Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation obtained from Cavendish University. Currently serving as a Programmes Manager at Zambia Alliance for Agroecology and Biodiversity. I am concerned about our future which is being threatened as economic benefits for a minority are consistently prioritised over and above basic human rights of the majority population and environmental sustainability. I advocate for citizens’ rights to food sovereignty, embedded within an ecological and socially just framework. Supporting the adoption of agroecology as a holistic, citizenry solution to sustainably build Zambia’s food and farming systems and strengthen resilience against climate change.
