Mokete Jacob Bereng

I am Mokete Jacob Bereng from Lesotho, working for the Ministry of forestry Range and Soil Conservation as the District Coordinator.  I started working in the Ministry in 2011 as a Senior Forester in the Northern Mountains at Mokhotlong District. In 2013 I was promoted to the Position of Senior District Forest officer and worked both in Mokhotlong and Quting Districts (within the Senqu River Valley). Since 2010 I worked at Matsepe High school as Science and Mathematics teacher and Lesotho Agricultural College in the Department of Forestry and Natural Resource management as a Part-time Lecturer.  Last year in 2022 I was again promoted to the position of the District Coordinator and now based in Quthing district.

My present mandates include:

  • implementation of the district Forestry and Land Reclamation Policy
  • Development of district forestry and land reclamation budgeting
  • effective control and utilization of district forestry and land reclamation resources
  • coordination of district forestry and land reclamation programmes and activities
  • staff recruitment, development and capacity building
  • supervision and training of staff on forestry, Soil and water conservation as well as Range Resource Improvement
