Kamal M. Farah

I am a water and environmental scientist, I have more than 20 years’ experience working in the development sector. My contextual and theoretical understanding of the strong link between climate change impact and adaptation had given me the courage to act as climate change impact mitigation champion in Somalia/Somaliland.

In my recent work experience, I provided a technical expertise and guidance to Somaliland government for the Development National hydrological drought preparedness plan, the development of the Somali National Climate Outlook, The National Climate guide document – March 2021. I am now Water Technical to CARE International in Somalia and provide a technical support to the Weather and Climate information (WISER) project for Somalia, the WISER aims to increase the reach, understanding, interpretation, use and uptake of weather and climate information to enhance community preparations and adaptation on climate change impact. I am also taken new challenge to also manage the Somali Resilient program (SomRep) -Afgoi Program and the Strengthening the Local Institutions Capacity for Fragile Contexts project.
