Edna Kimenju

Edna Kimenju is a sustainability practitioner who builds bridges between businesses, people and the environment. Her vast wealth of knowledge and experience in implementing sustainability practices for organizations, both in the public and private sector, led her to her current role Manager, Sustainability Advisory Services at Kenya Climate Innovation Center (KCIC) Consulting Limited. In this role, she supports clients within a wide range of sectors design and develop their sustainability strategies and reports while ensuring alignment with company guidelines, trends, stakeholder input & concerns and corporate strategy & directions.

Over the years, she has worked in a number of sectors, primarily the retail and the environmental sector. In the retail sector, she oversaw the day-to-day implementation of their sustainability strategy that contributes towards Net Positive Carbon and Water, Circular Economy and Health and Wellness. In the environmental sector, she worked with Kenya Forest Service where she articulated environmental needs and developed spatial data-led solutions that addressed those needs.

To complement her work, she holds an MSc in Sustainability and Business from University of Leeds, UK, that equips her to provide a comprehensive range of tailored end-to-end sustainability integration solutions that help tackle climate change, boost sustainable development, embrace clean energy technologies, transition to a circular economy, accelerate access to sustainable finance and streamline supply chains.

Moreover, she volunteered at the FIFA World Cup Russia 2018 under the Sustainability Function Area where she was exposed to monitoring environmental and social impact as well as creating awareness on circular economy and waste management practices.

Edna Kimenju believes a time has come that warrants social and environment considerations incorporated in the day-to-day running of our businesses; a time when we need to nurture businesses that not only care about profit but the well-being of people and the planet as well. Thus, she dedicates her work to supporting businesses seeking to integrate sustainability in their day-to-day operations.
