Abel Tumusiime

For over 10 years, Tumusiime Abel has been one of the leading environmental advocates at the local, national and international level. He holds a Doctorate Degree of Philosophy in Theology of El-Shaddai Step Up University TX USA, a Master of Science degree in Human Resource Management of Ndejje University, a Bachelor’s Degree in Ministry of Minnesota Int’l University, TX USA, a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration of Ndejje University plus several Certificates in Research Skills and Management with expertise training & development, Manpower planning, restructuring, rightsizing, preparing HR manuals, HR policy, designing and implementing salary structure, appraisal management, conducting employees satisfaction survey among others. Abel is a researcher in community development and natural resource management, He is able to carry out scientific research, formulate policy and interpret it, develop proposals, collect and analyze data, carry out community mobilization, publications, needs assessment, reliable, meticulous, bilingual and professionally skilled in research and project development, monitoring and evaluation especially in environmental conservation activities and has been participating and facilitating in a number of conferences, workshops and activities organized at national, regional and international levels. Abel has undertaken a number of consultancies in Rural Development, Environmental Conservation, Ground and Surface Water Management in Uganda where several publications on different topical issues such as water and sanitation have been published and implemented. Abel is as well knowledgeable and trained in strengthening of sustainable environment, natural resource management and climate change adaptation/ mitigation issues in strengthening the efforts and capacities of local governments, CSOs and communities to sustainably manage and utilize natural resources, integrate climate change adaptation and mitigation in their activities and build climate resilient societies. This is to be achieved through developing, piloting and implementing initiatives in biodiversity and ecosystems management, sustainable land management, efficient energy technologies and reduction in GHG emissions thus building climate change resilient communities. Abel is currently the Executive Director, Mbarara Development Agency (MDA) a local non-forprofit organization working in South Western Uganda since 2010.
