Theogene Ngaboyamahina

Theogene Ngaboyamahina is employed as an Environmental and Climate Change Officer at Rwanda Environment Management Authority (REMA) and National Focal Point for Ramsar Convention on Wetlands since 2011.  He graduated with an MSc in Biodiversity Conservation as well as a BSc in Biology with Education from the University of Rwanda.

He started his career in 2005 as Research Assistant at DFGFI-Karisoke Research Center where he contributed and co-authored journal  publications  and  conference  papers  on  reproductive strategies of males mountain gorillas.


He participated in many National and International environmental and climate change related trainings including international training on Earth Observation based wetlands monitoring and assessment, Management of Protected Areas in Africa, International training on Strategic Environment Assessment (SEA), Earth watch fellowships, lemurs and forest of Madagascar, mainstreaming environment and climate change in national development plans and strategies, among others.
