Joseph Indo is currently serving as the Director for Natural Resource and Climate Change in the Department of Environment and Natural Resources at the County Government of Kwale. Prior to joining the County Government of Kwale, Joseph served as a Project Manager at the Community Development Trust Fund Kenya for “Improved Community Based Natural Resource Management for Shimbahills Ecosystem Project” Joseph holds a “Doctore Magistrale” from the University of Florence in Italy, a Master in Business Administration and a degree in Agroforestry and Rural Development from Moi University in Kenya.
He has also undertaken other professional courses such as “Forest Governance, Public Relations and Community Development” from the University of British Columbia, Canada and “Selection of Best Suitable Sites for Water Harvesting Structures through GIS and Remote Sensing” from the University of Florence.
Joseph Indo is a Natural Resource expert with over 9 years’ experience working with communities and government agencies on Natural Resource Management. Joseph Indo has become a seasoned trainer on capacity building Conservation groups on Sustainable Natural Resource Management by offering Nature based solutions and technical support to groups undertaking Nature Based Enterprises.
Joseph Indo is also a Climate Reality leader and registered over 12 acts of climate leadership through the Climate Reality Project. Joseph Indo has been the climate change focal person for the County Government of Kwale and has provided leadership on climate governance in the County Government. The County currently has put up Climate change policies, bills and regulations and has an active County Climate Change Unit that coordinated climate change projects implementation, climate change mainstreaming, supervision, monitoring and evaluation and reporting on climate action.
